Boston Marathon 2025: My 3 Big Goals for a Stronger, Smarter Race

My Marathon Journey

From First Marathon to Six World Majors

I never expected to be a marathon runner. In fact, I didn’t start running until I was 55. But after crossing the finish line of my first marathon—New York in 2021—I caught the endurance bug. That experience sparked a bold goal: to complete all Six World Marathon Majors by the time I turn 60.

So far, I’ve run New York, Chicago, Berlin, and London. This April, I’ll take on Boston, and in Spring 2026, I hope to complete the journey in Tokyo. But beyond chasing finish lines, my real goal has always been to test what’s possible in my body—responsibly, with health as the priority.

As I train for Boston, I’m focusing on three big goals that might resonate with you, whether you’re an experienced runner or just starting to explore what’s possible for yourself:

Goal #1: Finish Stronger Than I Start

Training Smart and Listening to My Body. What does this mean?

  • Show up to the start line feeling good and finish injury-free.

  • Train smart—listen to my coach, the pros, and most importantly, my body.

  • Learn the difference between productive discomfort and pain that signals I need to adjust.

  • How this relates to you: Whether you're training for a 5K, hiking your first big trail, or just starting a fitness habit, the goal is the same—show up prepared, listen to your body, and let yourself stretch beyond your current level.

Goal #2: Experience the Thrill of Doing Something Big

Why Boston Matters

  • It’s one of the most prestigious marathons in the world, the crown jewel, one of the six majors. However for me, it’s about more than the race.

  • It’s about embracing the journey, connecting with other runners from near and far, and soaking in the experience.

  • The excitement of tackling something audacious is what keeps me going.

  • How this relates to you: Doing something meaningful—whether it’s your first race, your first gym session, or just committing to movement—creates momentum. It’s not about speed or perfection, it’s about the experience of saying "I did that!"

Goal #3: Grow Personally & Help Others Do the Same

Pushing Limits & Sharing the Journey. Beyond the miles, I want to:

  • Challenge the limits I’ve created in my mind.

  • Deepen my knowledge of training, nutrition, recovery, and performance.

  • Share what I learn so others—especially those who think running "isn’t for them"—might feel inspired to start their own journey.

  • How this relates to you: Growth isn’t about running marathons—it’s about learning what your body and mind are capable of, and then applying that to whatever challenge excites you.

Your Version of ‘Boston’ – What’s Your Big Goal?

Boston is my big goal, but your version of 'Boston' could be anything—your first run, your first hike, or just feeling better in your body. The journey starts with small steps, consistency, and believing that you belong in the game. Let’s go after our audacious goals together!

What’s one fitness or movement goal that feels exciting—but maybe a little intimidating? Drop it in the comments or message me—I’d love to cheer you on!
